Job Summary
DigitalXnode is looking for a Kafka to AWS Migration Engineer with 5–10 years of experience in Apache Kafka administration, architecture, and cloud migration for one of the Indian Client. The role will focus on supporting Kafka environments, migrating workloads to AWS Managed Streaming for Apache Kafka (MSK), and helping build reliable, scalable cloud-based streaming platforms.
The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience with Kafka migration and replication, AWS services, scripting, Linux/Unix environments, Kubernetes, and CI/CD practices. Experience with MirrorMaker 2 or similar Kafka replication technologies is important for migration and data synchronization activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and support Apache Kafka environments, including configuration, monitoring, troubleshooting, and operational maintenance.
- Design and support Kafka architectures for scalability, availability, performance, and reliability.
- Plan and execute Kafka-to-AWS migration activities with minimal disruption to applications and data flows.
- Deploy, configure, migrate, and support Kafka workloads using AWS MSK.
- Use MirrorMaker 2 or comparable Kafka replication tools for data replication and synchronization.
- Develop and maintain Python, Java, and/or Shell scripts for automation and migration tasks.
- Work in Linux/Unix environments for administration and troubleshooting.
- Use AWS services such as EKS, ECS, and CloudWatch within cloud-based Kafka environments.
- Support Kubernetes-based deployments and CI/CD processes.
- Monitor environments, investigate incidents, and support root-cause analysis.
- Collaborate with development, cloud, infrastructure, and application teams throughout migration and production support.
Required Technical Skills
- 5–10 years of relevant experience in Kafka engineering, administration, cloud migration, or related roles.
- Strong hands-on Apache Kafka administration and architecture experience.
- Practical experience with AWS MSK.
- Hands-on Kafka-to-AWS migration experience.
- Experience with MirrorMaker 2 or other Kafka replication tools.
- Programming or scripting skills in Python, Java, and/or Shell.
- Strong Linux/Unix administration and troubleshooting skills.
- Working knowledge of AWS EKS, ECS, and CloudWatch.
- Experience with Kubernetes and CI/CD.
- Ability to troubleshoot distributed systems, replication, connectivity, and deployment issues.
Preferred Technical Skills
- Experience designing production Kafka migration strategies.
- Exposure to Kafka security, authentication, and authorization.
- Hands-on experience with infrastructure automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices.
- Familiarity with AWS networking and observability.
- Experience with Kafka performance tuning, capacity planning, and cluster optimization.
AI Experience
AI experience is not mandatory for this role however it would be useful if familiarity is with AI-assisted coding or operational tools.
Managerial Experience
No direct people-management responsibility is specified. The role involves collaboration across engineering, infrastructure, cloud, and application teams.

- Confluent Certified Administrator for Apache Kafka (CCAAK)
