Job Summary
We are looking for an Application DBA to support database operations and project delivery activities. This role is primarily focused on application-level database support rather than infrastructure management. The DBA will act as an L2/L3 support resource, serving as an initial point of contact for database-related issues and helping project teams through development, QA, UAT, and release/deployment stages.
Key Responsibilities
- Support database deployments and project delivery activities.
- Provide database and environment support across QA, UAT, and release/deployment stages.
- Manage database users, access, permissions, and security-related administration.
- Monitor database performance and troubleshoot SQL and database issues.
- Investigate locking and blocking, long-running jobs, and data-processing failures.
- Identify missing or ineffective indexes and support SQL performance troubleshooting.
- Review database logs and monitor CPU and storage utilization.
- Troubleshoot database job failures and diagnose environment issues.
- Act as a first point of contact for database issues and resolve or escalate as appropriate.
- Manage support tickets and drive issues to resolution.
- Review database code changes and support code merging into GitHub repositories.
- Support development teams during implementation.
- Execute database deployment scripts using instructions provided through ServiceNow or Jira workflows.
- Support deployments into QA and UAT environments and troubleshoot deployment issues.
- Assist with database changes between environments and resolve integration and testing issues.
- Support project teams throughout the delivery lifecycle from development through release.
Required Technical Skills
- Application DBA experience focused on project delivery and operational support.
- Strong SQL Server and/or Oracle database experience.
- Experience with database application support and production support.
- Experience with database deployments and environment support.
- Hands-on knowledge of database access and permissions management.
- Experience troubleshooting SQL performance, locking, blocking, and long-running jobs.
- Ability to investigate data-processing and database job failures.
- Experience reviewing database logs and monitoring resource utilization.
- Experience supporting QA and UAT database environments.
- Experience executing database deployment scripts and troubleshooting deployment issues.
- Working knowledge of GitHub-based code workflows.
- Experience with ServiceNow and Jira workflows.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in L2/L3 Application DBA or database production support environments.
- Experience supporting data warehouse development projects.
- Exposure to database code review and GitHub workflows.
- Experience supporting database changes across Development, QA, UAT, and Release environments.
- Experience with SQL Server and Oracle in enterprise environments.
- Strong troubleshooting and issue-resolution skills.
- Ability to collaborate with developers, QA teams, and project teams.

- For SQL Server – DP-300 (Azure Database Administrator Associate)
