Job Summary
On behalf of our U.S.-based client in the Pharmaceutical & Life Sciences Technology sector, we are seeking a Data Migration Specialist with strong data engineering expertise to support large-scale data migration and modernization initiatives. The role requires proficiency in SQL and Python, hands-on experience with distributed data processing frameworks, and familiarity with the Azure cloud data ecosystem. This is a remote opportunity, for contractual engagement models.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and execute data migration workflows across source and target systems
- Develop and maintain data pipelines using distributed data processing frameworks such as Spark and Flink
- Build and manage ETL/ELT workflows using orchestration tools within the Azure data ecosystem
- Write and optimize SQL and Python code for data transformation and validation
- Support data modeling, metadata management, and data governance practices
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate, timely, and secure data migration
- Troubleshoot and resolve data quality and pipeline performance issues
Required Skills
- Strong proficiency in SQL and Python
- Experience with distributed data processing frameworks (e.g., Spark, Flink)
- Familiarity with cloud data ecosystems (Azure)
- Experience working with ETL/ELT orchestration tools
- Experience working with data migration
- Understanding of data modeling, metadata management, and governance
AI Experience
- Familiarity with AI-assisted data profiling, mapping, or migration validation tools is a plus
- Interest in applying AI-driven approaches to accelerate data quality checks and pipeline troubleshooting
Managerial Experience
- As an individual contributor, the candidate should be capable of working independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams across all stages of the SDLC.
Operational Experience
- Experience supporting live data migration and modernization initiatives in production environments
- Experience troubleshooting data quality and pipeline performance issues
- Experience maintaining ETL/ELT orchestration workflows within the Azure data ecosystem
- Experience with maintaining metadata and applying data governance standards as part of ongoing data management activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or equivalent
- Typically 5–9 years of hands-on data engineering experience, depending on level
- Comfortable working independently and collaborating effectively with remote teams across different locations.
Certifications (Preferred, Not Mandatory)
- Google Professional Data Engineer
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate
- AWS Certified Data Analytics – Specialty
