Job Summary
We are looking for a skilled MariaDB Database Administrator to support our client’s database management and infrastructure requirements in India. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience with MariaDB administration, database performance, backups and recovery, security and troubleshooting. Knowledge of PostgreSQL and MongoDB will be an added advantage.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain MariaDB databases to ensure performance, availability and reliability.
- Monitor database performance and identify opportunities for optimisation.
- Perform routine backups, restores and recovery procedures.
- Responsible for maintaining database security, including control over user access, roles, and permission levels.
- Assist with database deployments, patching, upgrades and configuration changes.
- Optimise SQL queries and investigate database performance issues.
- Troubleshoot database-related problems and provide timely resolutions.
- Support backup and disaster recovery processes.
- Maintain documentation for database configurations and operations.
- Collaborate with developers, repository maintainers and system administrators to improve database workflows.
- Support basic CRUD operations as required.
- Work with triggers and stored procedures where applicable.
Required Technical Skills
- Strong working knowledge of MariaDB as the primary skill.
- Hands-on experience with database administration and routine operations.
- Understanding of database performance, reliability and availability.
- Experience managing backups, restores and recovery procedures.
- Knowledge of database security, user management, roles and permissions.
- Good understanding of SQL and query optimisation.
- Knowledge of CRUD operations.
- Working knowledge of triggers and stored procedures.
- Experience supporting deployments, patching and upgrades.
- Strong troubleshooting skills.
Additional / Preferred Technical Skills
- Knowledge of PostgreSQL will be an advantage.
- Exposure to MongoDB or other NoSQL databases will be a plus.
- Understanding of sharding concepts for NoSQL databases will be beneficial.
- Knowledge of MySQL database administration may be relevant.
- Experience working in Linux or server-based environments will be an advantage.

- Able to take initiative individually while also contributing effectively within a team.
- Good written and spoken English communication skills.
- Capturing all detail and foresee and follow operational procedures.
- Ability to document technical configurations clearly.
Managerial Experience
Not Mandatory.
Operational Experience
- Experience supporting day-to-day database operations.
- Experience with backup, restore and recovery activities.
- Experience coordinating with development teams and system administrators.
- Ability to support database deployment, maintenance and upgrade activities.
- Experience troubleshooting production or operational database issues.
Qualifications
- Applicants from any academic background will be considered, provided they have relevant, hands-on database administration experience.
- A background in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or a similar discipline is preferred but not mandatory.
- Required hands-on practical experience and technical capability.
Certifications
Relevant certifications in MariaDB, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, database administration or cloud technologies may be an advantage but are not mandatory.
AI Experience
Not Mandatory. Some client projects may benefit from familiarity with AI-assisted tools used for database analysis, optimizing queries, documentation, or troubleshooting.
Experience
3–4 years of relevant experience in database administration, with strong hands-on knowledge of MariaDB.
