We are a talent acquisition and staff augmentation firm, and we are currently hiring on behalf of one of our clients. Our client is looking to onboard a Senior PHP Developer across multiple locations in India for a remote/hybrid role that can be offered on a full-time or contractual basis, depending on the candidate’s preference and eligibility.

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Senior PHP Developer with strong expertise in backend architecture, enterprise web application development, API design, database optimization, and modern PHP frameworks. In this role, you will lead the design and development of scalable, secure, and high-performance web applications while mentoring developers, driving technical decisions, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver enterprise-grade software solutions.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with PHP, Laravel, REST APIs, cloud technologies, DevOps practices, microservices architecture, and software engineering best practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and maintenance of enterprise-scale web applications using PHP.
• Architect scalable backend systems, APIs, and service-oriented applications.
• Design and develop secure RESTful APIs and third-party integrations.
• Build reusable, modular, and maintainable application components.
• Optimize application performance, scalability, and availability.
• Design and optimize relational databases including MySQL and MariaDB.
• Implement secure authentication, authorization, and API security standards.
• Review code, enforce coding standards, and mentor junior developers.
• Collaborate with Product, UI/UX, QA, DevOps, and business teams throughout the SDLC.
• Drive technical architecture decisions and recommend best development practices.

Required Skills

• Strong proficiency in PHP.
• Expert knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP).
• Advanced experience with Laravel and MVC Architecture.
• Strong expertise in RESTful APIs, Web Services, and Backend Development.
• Advanced knowledge of MySQL, MariaDB, SQL Optimization, and Database Design.
• Hands-on experience with HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery, and Bootstrap.
• Experience with Git, GitHub, GitLab, Composer, and CI/CD tools.
• Strong understanding of PHP Unit, Unit Testing, and Integration Testing.
• Experience with Docker, Linux, Apache, and Nginx.
• Excellent analytical, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

Senior PHP Development Experience

• 5+ years of experience developing enterprise PHP applications.
• Extensive experience with Laravel, CodeIgniter, Symfony, or similar frameworks.
• Strong experience designing scalable REST APIs and Microservices.
• Hands-on experience integrating payment gateways and third-party APIs.
• Expertise in application security including SQL Injection, XSS, CSRF, JWT, and OAuth 2.0.
• Experience optimizing high-traffic applications for performance and scalability.
• Strong understanding of caching technologies such as Redis and Memcached.
• Experience with cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Familiarity with DevOps workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and containerized deployments.

Managerial Experience

• Lead and mentor development teams through project lifecycles.
• Review architecture, code quality, and technical implementations.
• Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Coordinate with Product Managers, QA, DevOps, and stakeholders.
• Conduct technical interviews and mentor junior developers.
• Drive Agile ceremonies, sprint planning, estimations, and release management.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.

Operational Experience

• Design and maintain scalable enterprise backend systems.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure and application deployment.
• Optimize databases, APIs, and application performance.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI.
• Deploy applications using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Monitor applications and troubleshoot production issues.
• Experience with Linux server administration and infrastructure management.
• Ensure application security, compliance, and disaster recovery best practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 5–8 years of experience in PHP Development, Backend Development, or Full Stack Web Development.
• Proven experience building and maintaining enterprise-grade web applications.
• Experience leading technical teams and software architecture is highly preferred.
